Short-Term Moving & Storage Services

College Student Storage (CSS) provides hassle-free short-term moving and storage solutions—perfect for students between leases who need storage for a few days, weeks, or months.

How It Works

  1. You Receive – boxes and tape ahead of time to pack with 
  2. We Pick Up – Our team comes to your residence, loads your belongings, and transports them to our climate-controlled warehouse.
  3. We Store – Your items for a few days and up to one month – shrink-wrapped and palletized for safekeeping.
  4. We Deliver – When you’re ready, we re-deliver everything to your new residence, on or off campus.

What We Store

  • Furniture is no problem! We provide mattress covers, tools for assembly/disassembly, and even shrink-wrap drawers.
  • Boxes & Packing Supplies: You’ll get a kit with 10 boxes (4 large, 3 medium, 3 small), tape, labels, and markers.
  • Large Items: Beds, dressers, desks, futons, desk chairs, couches, rugs, bikes, and even vehicles.
  • NO FOOD OR GARBAGE BAGS. Items must be in proper storage containers—repacking fees apply otherwise.

Important Notes & Deadlines

  • Sign up early! We fill up quickly in late July & early August.
  • Last-minute sign-ups (within 2 days) may be subject to a $250 rush fee.
  • We do NOT assemble new furniture or mount TVs/mirrors.
  • Particleboard/IKEA furniture is NOT insured—it often doesn’t survive the move.

Where to Pick Up Your Box Kit

Your $59 deposit includes a box kit with supplies. Pick it up at:

  • CU Boulder: The Fitter (1121 13th St, near the Fox Theater)
  • CSU: Vape Co.2 (634 S. Mason St, behind the Pickle Barrel)

Other Services

  • Shipping Available: UPS Ground with tracking & insurance ($500 per item).
  • Storage Transfers: Pick up in one city, store, and re-deliver to another.
  • Indoor Vehicle Storage: Available for summer.

Pricing

Example Short-Term Storage + Move Estimates

  • 1 Bedroom (furniture + packed items):
    $1,099 total — Includes box kit, 2 hours for pickup, storage (up to 1 month), 2 hours for delivery, and mattress cover.
  • 1 Bedroom + Kitchen/Living Room Items:
    $1,400–$1,600 — More items and time needed for moving/storing.
  • Shared Apartments (2–4 students):
    $750–$950 per student — When multiple students sign up together and move in/out on the same day, we offer reduced rates. Price depends on how many rooms and shared spaces (living room/kitchen) are included.

Short-Term Storage Pricing

Storage rates depend on how much you store and for how long. Most students are between leases and need storage for a few days, weeks, or months. Below are general estimates:

Moving & Handling Fees
  • Moving fee: $175 per hour (3-person crew & truck) – 2-hour minimum
  • Basic disassembly/reassembly included for bed frames and large furniture
  • Extra fees may apply for excessive labeling/repacking/extra assembly/dis-assembly ($50–$175)
Packing & Labeling Requirements
  • Label all items on multiple sides with your name & confirmation number.
  • Dressers must be empty—drawers will break if filled.
  • DO NOT tape drawers shut (varnish damage) or place stickers directly on furniture.
  • TVs must be boxed ($50–$100 for custom packaging if not pre-boxed).
